As an avid art collector, I have been filling my home with paintings I love for over 30 years, and in 2011 I began my own journey as a watercolorist, initially concentrating on landscapes.
The deep foliage of the woods, the ferns, live oaks and magnolias, the palms, the Spanish moss, the beaches, and the seasonal vistas and ever-changing horizons of Payne's Prairie were the earliest inspiration for my landscapes. Now I am drawn to painting natural structures of all types, following my attraction to light, shapes and color. I hope my paintings elicit emotions and memories for the viewer, as I attempt to share my way of seeing.
Recent work is in all forms of watermedia and collage, mostly focusing on representational and abstract forms that reflect the beauty and fragility of the natural world. The longer I paint the more I find that my work changes and evolves whether I think I'm ready to move on or not; the work takes me there.
I exhibit regularly at the Gainesville Fine Arts Association Gallery and other Gainesville venues and have received nine awards in the past six years including Merit Awards in 2021 for "The Last Migration" and for "Canyons and Streams" and in 2022 for "El Flamenco".
